How I Built This is a podcast where Guy Raz interviews hundreds of entrepreneurs from old and new companies.  Learn how after addiction and incarceration Dave Dahl created Dave’s Killer Bread as a part of his family bakery.  In 2015 the business sold for 275 M.  Or hear the founding stories of Whole Foods, Lyft, Yelp, Chesapeake Bay Candles, Rent the Runway, RXBAR, Bumble, Kickstarter, Burt’s Bees, Stitch Fix and many others.  Discover Alice Waters’ secrets as she founded Chez Panisse.  Or learn how Blake Mycoskie had started four businesses by age 30 and in what country he got the inspiration for Tom’s shoes — part shoe business, part philanthropy.

I challenge you to use these interviews with your students.  Have them find an entrepreneur who is like them in some way.  Assign them to listen to the podcast and to list what characteristics they feel are important for entrepreneurs.  Assign a creative way to share their findings with the rest of the class.  After presentations are made, have students use this survey to determine what characteristics they believe are important to be a successful entrepreneur.

Or create your own assignments.  Comment on what companies or entrepreneurs interested your students.  And share your assignments using this podcast.
