Do your students like learning about ghosts? Well Halloween seemed like a time you might want to use this activity created by one of my remarkable college students, Mattie Boyett. As a way to introduce different regions of Arkansas, Mattie collected ghost stories from around the state. Use this Prezi where students explore a map of Arkansas with links to stories of infamous buildings and locations believed to be haunted. Assign regions of the state and have students explore and share their stories. Share findings with classmates through skits, murals, infographics – any preferred means of communications. If you want more Arkansas ghost stories, check out this site created by EAST students at Sonora Elementary in Springdale, Arkansas. Or these stories from Arkansas Farm Bureau. Add other sources in the comments please!
This PDF shows the overall options found on the Prezi. From Eureka Springs, to Fayetteville, to Crossett, to Calico Rock, to Cotter, to Powhatan, to Bauxite, and to Forest City! Students research and explore the haunted state.
Additional information can be found on this website to teach about each region of the state.
